Core RulesStory Hooks

Story Points

Story points are a special resource you gain that helps you wrest control over the narrative from the GM temporarily.

When you spend a story point, you create narrative advantage. You can accrue as many story points as your level; any story points accrued beyond that maximum are lost, so make sure to spend down your bank of story points as you embark on your adventure.

Gaining Story Points

You have the potential to gain story points whenever you roll a die that can explode:

  • If you roll a natural 6 and would explode the die, you may choose not to explode the die and gain a story point.
  • You can hold a number of story points equal to your level.

GM Story Points

Whenever the GM rolls a 6, he may choose not to explode and gain a story point. The GM can only gain story points when he chooses not to explode a die related to action the party is taking.

The GM may spend a story point to create narrative advantage against the players, introducing a complication into the scene.

He can accrue up to 10 story points at any given time.
