Faolagan was a Nim necromancer who terrorized the Merovian town of Glenluce with an army of ghouls. His rise to power began when he betrayed his business partner, Elder Aidan, who had recovered a Changeling artifact called the Grindstone from the swamps of Mordaine. The Grindstone's corrupting influence granted Faolagan necromantic abilities, allowing him to command the dead.
Elder Aidan was a baker whom the town relied on for his food supply, and Faolagan his jealous apprentice. Under Faolagan's direction, the Grindstone was installed in the Old Mill and used to infect food supply. He experimented on the villagers of Glenluce, turning them into ghouls to expand his army. His reign of terror was enabled by an unscrupulous merchant named Karn, who sold questionable remedies to the sick townspeople while unwittingly helping Faolagan obtain supplies for his gruesome work.
The necromancer's ambitions extended beyond mere control of Glenluce; its Rasan influence drove Faolagan insane, and he planned to raise more dead to conquer all of Merovia.
