About Merovia

A province of Mordaine, these dense woodlands are known as the stomping grounds of the Dread Legion, a fiercely independent order of mercenaries headed by the Dread Lords, that rules over Mordaine from Irongrey Castle.

Merovians are a hardy but communal people, whose sense of identity hews closely to the land. They eschew monarchy and prefer local government over the rule of Lords and Ladies. The Dread Lords maintain their authority over Merovia with the support of fyrds throughout the land, and while the Dread Lords are generally regarded as a fearsome legion of tyrants, the fyrds believe they can control the legion for the people's benefit. To this end, Merovians think it an honor to send their most ablebodied to join the Dread Legion and ensure Mordainer independence.

Merovians worship the Sylvan god Horologos, who is the God of Time. He is viewed as the leveler of fortunes and the culler of lies.

The Jagd Wilds

Like Talvi in the western world, the wilds of Merovia are rumored to be the haunt of various fey creatures, such as the Faunlin.

People & Culture

While the Dread Legion favors keeping Midworlders among its ranks, the Legion has been known to adopt members of many races previously enslaved by the Empire, including Tarth and Daemon.
