THE GOD BEYOND THE PORTAL takes place during The Long Night, a larger campaign setting set approximately half a century before the fall of the Magic City of Muraius, when a mysterious darkness eclipses the light of the sun and plunges the world into chaos. The people of Midworld are cut off from their benevolent overlords in the Magic City, leaving a power vacuum for the human kingdoms below to fill. The Lords’ Alliance is broken, and a nascent Empire spreads across the land Arcadia.

At the edge of Arcadia, you seek refuge in the rebel province of Idania, where its cities reject the Emperor’s claim to the throne. There, the estranged Lady Katreus and Lord Zoltan, trapped in their respective towers, wage a secret war against the Emperor’s Provisional Council.
