A Quest of Queens—Lore

Sigra the Undying

Most men learn too late the difference between fear and loathing. Let the one boil over into the other, and no one can stop you.

—Sigra the Undying, to her host

Born in the swamps of Merovia to a peasant family, Sigra clawed her way to leadership at a young age when she and her siblings were kidnapped to become sex slaves in Dread Lords' brutal host. To earn her freedom, she bested her sister in a blood duel, taking her place as a warrior to the then-leader of House Sigrid. Eventually, she challenged that same Dread Lord for command of his army, and it is said she faced ten men at once as punishment for her impudence. Encircled and bloodied, her rusted axe in one hand and her severed ear in the other, the story goes that she prevailed through blind rage, tearing out the hearts of her victims with her bare hands.

Sigra's epithet, "the Undying," stems from her indomitable will, though there are suspicions that her strength is enhanced by a cursed armor she wears. Sigra has defied death so many times that her cohort becomes fearless and bloodthirsty when they enter battle alongside her. Skalds sing that the witches of Mordaine gifted her with the rage of her ancestors upon her birth, and keep her alive to carry out their vengeance through her body.

When Rhansmarc the Cruel called for the Dread Lords’ allegiance, Sigra responded positively to his promise of besting the Empire at their own game: the conquest of weak men.
