A Quest of Queens—Lore

Crown of Muraius

It is said the crown cannot break. But beware, for the hearts of those who covet it always do.

—Zevya of House Sylvariel, Handmaiden to the Queen

The Crown of Muraius is among the most sacred relics of the High People, forged by Yevna, the Goddess of Creation, and bestowed upon the Yevim matriarchs as a conduit for her divine power. Crafted from Iphendi steel, the crown is indestructible and bound to the magical ley lines that crisscross the world. It allows the matriarchs to commune with Yevna herself, channeling her will through the Great Crystal to sustain Muraius and its reign over Midworld.

More than a tool of governance, the Crown is a bridge between the material and divine realms. When worn by a rightful matriarch, it bestows absolute authority over the Great Crystal, empowering the wearer to shape the natural world and protect the High People’s dominion. However, such power coms at a cost—communion with Yevna demands unwavering focus and moral strength, and it is said that those with weak wills are consumed by the Crown’s demands.

Since The Fall, the Crown remains a powerful yet perilous artifact. While the Great Crystal is shattered, the Crown’s connection to the ley lines persists, giving it great magical potential. Those who seek to restore the High People’s rule covet it as the key to rebuilding their lost power, while others view it as a relic of tyranny, best left buried. The Crown is said to sing to its wearer, offering both guidance and temptation, a reminder that even divine tools are not immune to the ambitions of mortals.
