Edwin Graves Harrington serves as Felix Underwood's right-hand man in the Retainers. As an Arcanese intelligence agent, Edwin is a Clockwerk swiss army knife of talents, from knowledgeable archaeologist to practiced arcanist to expert spy, who maintains a web of contacts that keeps Felix's operation one step ahead of the game.

Felix and Edwin first met when Felix rescued him from the Dune Sea, where he'd been disassembled by his former employers. The exact circumstances of their meeting is a tale Felix and Edwin always embellish over drinks, but the two have become inseparable allies as a result.

Edwin comes across as eager to please, curious, and courteous, perhaps an artifact of his Arcanese upbringing, but he's not above using violence to ensure everyone mirrors his good manners. Some suspect that Edwin is in fact a student of the hermetic order of Clockwerk in the Polytechnic, but whether he left the Polytechnic on good terms is anyone's guess.

Adventure Hook

Edwin prefers deceiving or placating his enemies over direct confrontation. Edwin works best as a recurring NPC who can serve multiple roles in a campaign—sometimes as an ally providing crucial intelligence, other times as a rival whose goals are opposed to the party.

One of Edwin’s informants, who had been sent to infiltrate the Queen’s court in an effort to steal access codes to Arcanum’s vault, fails to make a scheduled meeting in Arcanum’s Cheapside district. The informant’s last message mentioned assassins in Queen Madeleine’s court. Edwin hires the party to help root out the assassins, but fails to mention the nature of his plot.

What faction do the assassins serve, and why do they want to assassinate Arcanum’s matriarch?
What will the party do if they learn of Edwin’s plan to pierce the vault?
What happened to the informant? Could s/he be a double agent?
