Moruin is the heart of the empire, divided into frigid, yet fertile plains that is home to Arcadia's largest cities, and a barren north that hosts the Empire's unassailable fortresses.
In the south, the cities Novatia and Dexien are regarded as jewels of civilization. Dexien houses the Academy at Dexien, where the Emperor's paladins train in service of the Decree. The Hierarchate and the Congress of Judges are both situated near its border; marvels of modern architecture unlike anything else in the world.
Though Moruin is regarded as a country unto itself, its north lacks any substantive civilization. The land is barren and cold, containing difficult terrain and fierce wildlife that include creatures descended from the children of Asag. The only city in its midst is Skohl, a military stronghold which is considered the civilization farthest north in all the world. There, the Emperor's most powerful strategists, soldiers, and advocates serve among the bitter frost.
The valley of Moruin descends from the lifeless crags of the Northern Wastes, and the terrible Mountains of Múspell rise from the gorge surrounding its principal fortress, the Castle Moongarm. There, the throne of Arcadia and the Emperor himself reside. Castle Moongarm, given its physical location, is considered unassailable, being that it is surrounded by the Mountains of Múspell, which are active volcanoes. On either side of these mountains are the heavily fortified Castles Nefris and Maragan, within which are stationed imperial forces and Lords of Arcadia most loyal to the Emperor.
