A Quest of QueensHistory

Of the First Age

In the beginning there was Yevna, and Yevna was all, and the world and the waters were as one, and the beauty of Yevna was terrible, and She was vast and boundless as a great shadow upon the deep.

2 Then Yevna spoke unto the deep, and They awakened. And upon the shadow of the world They marched into the deep, where They rooted. And ever into the body of the world Their limbs grew. And Yevna created the Yevim after Their efflorescence.

Then, Yevna parted the deep with a word. And the Yevim were among Her, but beneath Her face they became silent, for Her power was beyond theirs, and so they came to worship Her. And this was the choice of the one the Yevim called Elsene, for she was their speaker. 10 And Yevna saw that she was wise, and to the Yevim she would become their queen, and because of her wisdom the Yevim were permitted to walk with Yevna. 11 So it is said They came to know her words.

12 And the waters shook mightily beneath the gaze of the heavens.

13 And everywhere, at that moment, Her lips kissed the earth and the sky. 14 Thereupon the fires of Asag cooled, and its kind were driven out by Her words of power, and thereafter the Yevim inhabited the world, and the love of Yevna encompassed them all, for She created them, and it was good.

15 But the war against Asag lasted many ages. 16 And in those days, the Yevim came to know death as they had come to know Her power, though Her power could not avail them, for the wrath of Asag was great, and so great was their suffering.

17 And unto the fires of Asag, Yevna whispered, until the wounds of the fallen children of Asag were healed by Her tones, which were unlike the parting of the deep. 18 Thus the ire of Asag doubled, and multitudes of Yevim fell, and a fissure was said to open upon the deep, and from the light of the deep the great Colossi sprang, for they heard the wrath of Asag and would sleep no longer.

19 And then Elsene led the Yevim into the deep, and by the command of her Iphendi the servants of Asag fled, for she was their lord. 20 And Elsene at last cast Asag into the Lake of Fire, under the mountain that by Asag was named Ur, whereupon she was sealed at its seat. 21 Thus the waters of the deep were still, and for a thousand years there was peace among Yevna's children.
