The Intercessors stand as the spiritual pillars of Yevim society, their divine connection rivaled only by the Queen herself. These clerics, anointed by the God Tree within the sacred Praxim of the Ancients, serve as the Queen's counselors and her intermediaries with Yevna. The Intercessors wield influence born not of authority, but of faith, rejecting the political machinations of the Muraian Senate. Their pronouncements have shaped the course of Yevim history, steering its people through both triumph and tragedy.

Historically, the Intercessors were warriors as well as priests, leading Elsene's armies to defeat Asag and bind her essence within the shadow-realm of Ur. This act not only secured the dominion of the High People but established the foundations of their civilization. Three Intercessors, now venerated as saints, are credited with the creation of the Magic University, a floating bastion of arcane knowledge that endured as a testament to their divine mission.

Despite their lofty status in Yevim society, the Intercessors are isolated figures that are frequently regarded as out-of-touch with the other houses of the High People. Their proximity to the God Tree grants them insight into divine affairs, but it also separates them from understanding the changing world. Some criticize them for their detachment, prioritizing spiritual purity over pragmatic concerns. Furthermore, their historical role in the sealing of Asag has left lingering questions about the ethics of their methods and the consequences of their actions in the balance of the world.

In the present age, the destruction of the God Tree and the fall of Muraius have left the surviving Intercessors unmoored. Without their sacred anchor, they grapple with a lack of purpose.

Adventure Hook

After The Fall, the Intercessors as an order are nearly extinct. Whoever plays The Queen Who Lives would benefit greatly from the tutelage of an Intercessor, if one survived the destruction of Muraius. The early adventures of the campaign can revolve around finding such a mentor. Alternatively, another PC or NPC in the party can serve as the last surviving Intercessor from Muraius, creating a mentor/mentee relationship that can grow in downtime.

A young surviving Intercessor (whether played by a PC or NPC), is plagued by unsettling visions and begs the party to help uncover the truth behind his dreams. The visions point to a hidden grove connected to the God Tree, now defiled by a dark presence. The party must protect the Intercessor as they journey into the grove, facing manifestations of doubt and fear that threaten to sever his divine connection.

What lies at the heart of the grove’s corruption?
Will the party protect the young cleric, or challenge his understanding of faith?
How might the discovery reshape the fragile unity of the surviving Yevim?
