They cast away their wings to claim their freedom. In doing so, they also cast away their honor.

The Cult of the Fallen consists of Daemon who, in an act of rebellion, severed their sacred wings to renounce their bond to the High People and their role as protectors of Muraius, the Magic City. By rejecting Yevim authority, these Daemon choose exile over life in the sky above. In the years following their defiance, they have wandered the broken lands of Midworld, their acts often steeped in secrecy, subversion, and survival.
Their severed wings represent a rejection of servitude and a casting off of their divine provenance. Many believe the Fallen severed their wings as a statement of independence, yet others claim it is an act of despair, fueled by the injustices they suffer under the High People’s dominion. Whatever the truth, their plight serves as a reminder that dark truths may underlie the High People's reign—and that guilt still lingers among the ruins of the Magic City.
After the Fall, the remaining Fallen sought unity by returning to the Aerie, the ruins of their former home. Once the seat of Daemon might, the Aerie is now a mournful shell of its former existence, filled with overgrown sanctuaries, broken spires, and toppled statues. The Fallen who gather here are said to form covenants, each led by a charismatic or desperate figure who struggles to impose his fractured philosophy of what it means to be free upon his clan.
Rumors persist that the Fallen had a role in the Fall of Muraius itself, and some scholars speculate that their rebellion extends beyond exile. It is rumored that they conspired with the Changelings to aid in the destruction of the Great Crystal. While no evidence supports this theory, the implications of such treachery deepen the distrust toward them, even among other exiled peoples.
