About Vanis

Beyond the impassable mountains that form the Velaxis Ridge are the white, tranquil plains of Vanis and the cool, crystalline waters of Lake Elivagor at its heart. Vanis is as vast as Arcadia, but the hermit kingdom hates outsiders and has enjoyed solitude for many centuries. The Vanisian population's ascetic way of life promotes a purity of culture among its people: they worship no gods and deny the light of the One God Avestar.

Vanisians are obsessed with perfection in all its forms. Artisans regard abstraction as a form of dishonesty. From a young age, Vanisians serve in the military to perfect a martial discipline. The country has produced countless renowned architects, swordsmen, and scholars. Its Pillars of Severity are a testament to the Vanisian devotion to purity: the cool marble artifact is said to reveal the true nature of those who stand within its shadow.

The Vanisians are a prideful people who believe in the superiority of their country above all others. The cities Jourdaine and Mengarten are protected by a sizable military force that rivals Arcadia's. In Chateau Vusante, the Lord of Vanis commands incredible clockwerk technology forged in The Fulcrum at Nithaven.

Purity of Culture

The Vanisans benefit from the enslavement of millions in Nithaven. Like the imperial inquisitors in Arcadia, the Vanisians view non-human peoples as inferior and worthy of their subjugation. The worship of all gods is forbidden in Vanis.

Alliance with Arcadia

Vanis maintains an unsteady alliance with Arcadia. Both realms know that war between them could destabilize the region and enable their enemies to get the upper hand against them.
