Uvuk is an impish homunculus created by the High Person Luther. He is bound to his creator psychically, yet possesses a sharp wit and a cunning intelligence that often exceed expectations for a being of his nature. As a tool of Luther’s schemes with limited agency, Uvuk is a dangerous foe unfettered by any morality outside that of his master.

Designed as a living repository of secrets, Uvuk has access to fragments of Luther’s memories, knowledge, and power. His grotesque, morbid frame belies his immense utility: he is a practiced alchemist with access to devious magic, and a skilled infiltrator and tinkerer. The homunculus, empowered by a chunk of Luther's intellect, is a master cryptographer and walking memory palace.

Despite his apparent stupidity, Uvuk harbors a deep resentment toward Luther, whose control over him is both literal and figurative. This tension fuels much of Uvuk’s internal conflict, as he grapples with his desire for freedom and the fear of what that freedom might cost. His interactions with the party may reveal a being torn between loyalty, self-preservation, and the faint hope of carving out an identity of his own apart from his master.

While Uvuk can be an invaluable asset in any attempt to unravel Luther’s schemes, the homunculus' ultimate goals are as unpredictable as his many talents. Whether he will emerge as an ally, a betrayer, or something in between depends on the choices of those who adopt him into their company.

Adventure Hook

Uvuk’s role as an extension of Luther makes him dangerous to keep around. The party might question whether to trust Uvuk with any information at all, let alone the sensitive kind, knowing that Luther could be monitoring him. They may also contemplate severing Uvuk’s connection to Luther, risking the homunculus’ sanity. At the same time, Uvuk’s character arc offers opportunities for unexpected growth or betrayal. Perhaps he begins to act independently of Luther’s influence the longer he is with the party, developing a unique personality—and unexpected trustworthiness—that can be used against Luther in the long game.

Luther tasks Uvuk with betraying the party to secure an artifact vital to his plans. Torn between his creator’s command and his budding loyalty to the party, Uvuk must make a fateful choice. The party, in turn, must navigate the consequences of his actions.

What clues hint at Uvuk’s internal struggle?
How does the party respond if Uvuk betrays them?
Can Uvuk redeem himself, or is he doomed to remain a pawn in Luther’s schemes?
