The pool dissolves falsehood, and the Rasa are false. Woe to the wicked who should drink of its waters.
—Faunlin Seeress Sralith, as recorded in Rites & Rituals by Goom the Sage
The Pools of Purity are sacred sites of immense magical power, said to emanate from the God Tree itself. Found within the Praxim of the Ancients and other sacred locations, these mystical waters are known for their transformative properties. The pools are capable of “purifying” those who come into contact with their waters, removing magics that are hostile to the faith of Yevna. While this purification is often healing for the faithful, it can prove deadly to beings like the Rasa, whose magic is opposed to the Goddess.
Each pool is a reflection of its origin, embodying the ancient magic of the God Tree or its analog in other cultures. Among the Changelings, pools with similar psionic properties exist, though their effects are capable of inducing shapechanging transformations in those who would interact with them. In the Faunlin’s vales, pools of purity take the form of enchanted mud, used to exorcise Rasan spirits that possess living beings.
These pools serve as metaphysical battlegrounds in the cosmic struggle between Yevna and Asag. Their power, though designed for a specific purpose, presents great risk to those who enter with inner darkness in their minds. The pools lay bare one's true self, which can destroy a person from the inside out.
Legends claim that the water of the Pools of Purity may hold the key to restoring fragments of the God Tree’s power, or perhaps the Great Crystal itself. This belief has led many factions, from faithful pilgrims to power-hungry warlords, to seek them out. Yet the pools do not yield their secrets easily, and their guardians—whether mortal, spiritual, or environmental—ensure they remain untouched by the corrupt or prying eye.
