Chara Farim en Set, the Satyress leader of the Faunlin, is a guardian of the ancient feywilds that the Faunlin inhabit. Her kind were created long ago as an experiment by the High People to combine Tarth and Rasan essence before they were abandoned in Midworld. After a war with the Tarth, they became secondary keepers of the Great Labyrinth, watching those who enter or leave it from their hidden vales. Chara is the latest in a long like of Faunlin Satyresses, who oversee the sacred duties of her people.

Chara is a graceful yet imposing figure and a powerful spellcaster. She carries a ritual staff entwined with Muraian flora derived from the God Tree, and commands a cadre of Faunlin archers who wear golden masks that represent the Faunlin's sacred duty: to capture and bind Rasan spirits in holy artifacts, ridding the world of their influence.

Chara rarely emerges from the spellweave, except in times of crisis. Because the feywilds make up an invisible network of astral vales that span the entire world, she can move rapidly from one realm to another without stepping foot in the material. Her primary duty is to perform the ritual of purification in the Pools of Purity, which emanate from the Muraian flora that the Faunlin grow in the feywild.

Adventure Hook

Chara can be a powerful, if not reluctant, NPC ally to the party if they should discover her in the feywilds. She is fiercely opposed to Changelings and their progenitors the Rasa, carrying forward the ancient enmities of the High People into the modern world.

A group of young Faunlin, embittered by their role as would-be custodians of the Great Labyrinth, become corrupted by Rasan spirits trapped in the masks they have collected, and threaten to disrupt the delicate balance of the feywild by refusing to exorcise the masks in the Pools of Purity. Chara believes they can be saved, but the party must act quickly to prevent catastrophe.

Is it only the naiveté of youth that motivates the rebellious Faunlin, or something more sinister? Can the party find common ground with them?
What happens if the Rasan spirits trapped inside the masks are unleashed?
How does this conflict deepen the party’s understanding of the Faunlin’s history?
