In their suffering, they may be made pure.
—Lady Mótsognir, on the Slaves of Nithaven
Lady Mótsognir is a paladin of Vanis whose moniker refers to the millions of forge-slaves over which she lords—barely human "dwarves" who toil in darkness. As the Iron Hand of Nithaven, she is the merciless overseer of The Fulcrum, a massive industrial forge created by the Colossi before the Great War. Nithaven is a bleak stretch of coastal land polluted by alchemical runoff. There, Nim slaves construct Clockwerk war machines and deadly artifacts for the Kingdom of Vanis, to aid in the Imperial war effort.
The Lady herself is a scion of the most noble of artisan families in Vanis, extremely educated and extremely dedicated. Her devotion to perfection is both her credo and her curse. She is obsessed with Vanisian principles of order and purity, and sees weakness as the ultimate sin.
Beneath her inflexibility, Lady Mótsognir is a strategic mastermind. She plays the political game as deftly as she wields her warhammer, leveraging her alliances with the Empire and her mastery over The Fulcrum as pawns in the long game for Vanisian supremacy. Her relationship with the Emperor is complex: while she outwardly serves him, her ultimate loyalty is to her people. Mótsognir sees herself not as a tyrant, but as a necessary force of transformation—a crucible through which the world must pass to emerge stronger.
