Kranmanouk is a disgraced Highgaard and childhood mentor to Kazarius. A guardian of the Great Labyrinth, Kranmanouk was stripped of his honor for allowing the Changeling Zed access to the Great Labyrinth and hide away a shard of the Heart of Asag. He left his position in disgrace after clashing with Highgaard Kazalin, his lifelong friend, over the matter.

Kranmanouk’s towering frame and battle-scarred horns reflect a life of combat and rough living. His armor, adorned with the pelts of beasts he has slain, is as much a symbol of his resilience as his connection to the land. Though his reputation as a warrior is unmatched, it's his sense of humor and gentle patience that endears him to most. Among the barbarians of the North, Kranmanouk is a respected ally—a Tarth who understands that strength must serve purpose, not pride.

When rising threats from the Shadowvale caused Kazalin to venture into the Great Labyrinth to find answers, Kranmanouk sought out his former mentee Kazarius, and put together motley crew of disgraced Tarth to serve him. Together, the Tarth seek redemption by saving their city from peril.

Adventure Hook

Kranmanouk is the sort of NPC that can kick off an adventure. If you have a Tarth PC, for example, Kranmanouk can represent a blast from the past, come to recruit the PC and his allies to solve a problem for the city of Tarth or Farlas at large. His gregarious nature can add a bit of levity while engrossing the party in the more serious subjects of duty and sacrifice that encircle Tarth culture.

As incursions from the Shadowvale threaten the safety of Tarth, Kranmanouk is unable to get through to the ruling council in Tarth, which has been taken over by a cynical house in the absence of its leader, Highgaard Kazalin. This house has closed up the gates of Tarth and driven its people further into isolationism. The Highgaard Kazalin is said to have ventured into the Great Labyrinth to seek the counsel of the God Pharkun. Kranmanouk seeks the party’s help.

How will the party convince the Tarth leadership to act against the Shadowvale threat?
Will a journey into the Great Labyrinth be necessary to save Kazalin?
What challenges will the family now ruling Tarth pose to the party as they grapple with the Shadowvale incursions?
