Tyr Ironhart is known among the Dread Legion for his grim pragmatism and staunch sense of personal honor. His ascent to the ranks of the Dread Lords was neither swift nor easy. Unlike others who revel in brutality, Tyr forged his path because he always kept his word—qualities as rare in the Dread Legion as polished steel in a blacksmith’s scrap heap.

Tyr was initially a follower Rhansmarc the Cruel, when the pirate lord sought to unify the Dread Lords under the Black Banner in Captain Cutter's absence. He quickly became disillusioned by the pirate lord's unscrupulous tactics. When faced with the decision to betray the Dread Lord code to uphold the alliance with Rhansmarc the Cruel, Tyr made the choice to step away and stand on his own. In doing so, he not only saved his forces from certain annihilation, but also carved out a complicated legacy as traitor to the Black Banner's cause.

Tyr carries the scars of years of battle proudly, an imposing figure, even in his old age. He wears the ancient arcane armor of the battlemages of his lineage, marred by centuries-long conflict.

Adventure Hook

Tyr’s old allies in the Dread Legion may tempt him to return, offering the party a dilemma: should they trust Tyr’s claims of reform, or confront him as a potential spy? Tension may escalate if one of the Dread Lords demands Tyr’s head in exchange for peace.

A renowned blacksmith seeks Tyr’s help to repair an ancient Dread Legion artifact—a ceremonial blade representing the unity of the Dread Lords. Tyr believes the blade’s restoration could bring stability to the fractious Legion. However, the materials required are hidden deep in the treacherous Peaks of Phaleg in Tormsdale, and strange reports suggest the mountain paths have been overrun by frost-touched horrors. Tyr recruits the party to assist in this journey.
