Astrid Sunfire Spiritsong is a noblewoman whose once-prosperous house fell victim to the machinations of enemies of the Arcadian Empire. Born into privilege, Astrid was raised on tales of her family's historic ties to the Church of the One God. However, as the Empire's influence grew and the schism in the church widened, House Spiritsong found itself on the losing side of history.

With the rise of the Emperor and the establishment of the Hierarchate of Avestar, the followers of Abraxis were branded heretics and hunted down. Astrid watched as her family's legacy crumbled, their lands confiscated and their name stricken from the annals. Yet even as she fled into exile, Astrid's faith in Abraxis, the Bowed God of mercy and healing, only grew stronger.

In the aftermath of the Fall, rumors began to circulate of a cleric who had survived the purges—Fodel Bersk, the last priest of Abraxis. For Astrid, this news was a spark of hope in the darkness. She vowed to find Fodel and help him restore the true faith, seeing in this quest a chance for both personal redemption and the salvation of the realm.

Astrid transformed her turmoil into boundless optimism; sometimes to the chagrin of her mentor, the ever-pragmatic Fodel Bersk. She celebrates the natural harmony of the universe, the beauty of nature, and free love. Nothing can get her down, and she believes every soul can be redeemed.

Adventure Hook

Astrid’s the type of hippie hero who can get on everyone’s nerves if they’re not prepared for her extra special dose of optimism. But running a character like Astrid challenges players to see the good in everything, no matter how dire the situation, and raise the party’s spirits.

Astrid receives word that her brother, long presumed dead, is alive and imprisoned in the dungeons of the Congress of Judges. She implores the party to mount a rescue mission, but the risks are great. The characters must find a way into the heart of Imperial power where the Inquisitors are numerous and well-defended. Along the way, they uncover evidence of an even greater conspiracy—one that could shake the foundations of the Empire itself.

How will the party approach the Congress of Judges without raising suspicions?
