My Story

Knowledge of how exactly the Magic City was built is a heavily guarded secret, kept encrypted in the Ancient Nimean by the Guilds of the Great Builder. The lore says that Muraius was built with a "single word," but often the scriptural pronouncements of the High People are to be questions for their exaggerations and hyperbole...

from Histories of the Antediluvan Period, by Fiona of Abernathy, First Scribe to the Library of Ambion

Shmelo is a hearty Nim engineer whose storied history goes all the way back to the Magic City: his forefathers were part of the ancient Guild of Builders who are set to have built the Bridge of Teyat and countless edifices in the land of the High People.

After the Fall, he got involved with the Returners, offering his expertise for clockwerk technology to a generation of human rebels who seek to overthrow the Emperor in Arcadia.

Adventure Hook

Shmelo is gruff, no-nonsense, and gregarious. He can be found in the Returners' headquarters, wherever it may be, building clockwerk weapons of war for the rebellion.

For 2 MP, you may gain advantage on any roll of your choice (except attack rolls). You also start with 4 fate points instead of 3. When you switch stances, it does not cost you MP, and you may choose a stance at character creation. The maximum amount of fate points you can accrue is 4.

Mechanist

kit

Icon

You are an expert in the field of Clockwerk engineering. You start with a sentient Clockwerk companion that follows your commands. It has 1d6 AP, 3 in all attributes, and can either fly, lift heavy objects, or record a single sound or sight at a time. It is broken at 0 AP and can be rebuilt by expending a luxury supply. You may spend MP to create Clockwerk-typed supply: 1 MP for consumable, 3 for cheap, and 5 for luxury. Supply created in this way has no resale value.
